A Month of Gratitude at Lorrie’s House

Our shelter is fortunate to have several amazing volunteers who never run out of energy or kindness. We would like to take this opportunity to thank one of our longest volunteers by the name of Susan Rich. Susan has been an educator in the Bear Valley Unified School District for over twenty years. She currently teaches second grade at Baldwin Lane Elementary School. In her free time, Susan can be spotted hiking with her two devoted dogs. She is also an active member of her church and sells SCRIP there every weekend.

This busy lady makes time to do our grocery shopping for the shelter. We always know that we can
count on her, no matter the weather or how hectic her life is. Our groceries are delivered with kindness and a smile. For almost three years this wonderful lady has devoted a portion of her free time to helping others. We are so very lucky that she chose us to dedicate more of her time.

The shelter would also like to give a shout out to the Lions Club of Big Bear Valley. This organization provides eye appointments and glasses for our clients at no cost. Some of our clients have gone for significant periods of time without glasses or glasses that needed to be replaced. We are so appreciative of the Lions Club and all that they provide to our clients and the community.
