DOVES of Big Bear Valley, Inc. is pleased to host Understanding the Culture of Poverty, a two-day workshop presented by Kathy Estes.
This workshop will offer the participants an opportunity to consider the realities of what it means to “live in poverty.” Through the research of Dr. Ruby Payne, this compelling and interactive workshop provides a foundation to understand the variables that sometimes interfere with achievement and success for the community of poverty. Participants will draw upon personal experiences and learn strategies for effectively engaging with the community of poverty.
Educators, managers, social workers, health care providers, business leaders, law enforcement agencies, probation officers, youth leaders, clergy, community based organizations and the public are all encouraged to attend.
The workshop will be offered on August 22-23 and again on September 22-23 from 8am-4pm. It will be held at the Mary Johnson Room at Community Church of Big Bear Lake, 40946 Big Bear Blvd. Registration is $60 per person. Registration and payment can be filled out online at www.doves4help.org/register. For questions contact 909-866-1546 or firstname.lastname@example.org
