Join DOVES in observing October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. DOVES was honored to be recognized recently by the City of Big Bear Lake with an official proclamation, thanking DOVES for the work they do to help the community, and urging the citizens of Big Bear to stand together in the fight against domestic violence. The City of Big Bear Lake now officially recognizes October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. DOVES’ staff wants the residents of Big Bear to know that we are extremely grateful for their support and that we could not operate the way we do without their help.
DOVES is encouraging members of our community to participate in Domestic Violence Awareness Month in the following ways:
Join us each week as we go Live on the DOVES Facebook Page. DOVES’ staff will be presenting and discussing issues that are facing our community, and answering your questions each Thursday at 12:15 PM for the entire month of October. Follow us on Facebook for more information.
Thursday October 19th is #PurpleThursday, where people nation-wide will wear purple to show we stand together in the fight against domestic violence. DOVES encourages everyone to join us by wearing purple and posting to our Facebook using the hashtag #PurpleThursday.
DOVES will be presenting a 90-minute educational seminar entitled “Silence Hides Violence” where we will provide valuable information including the various forms of domestic violence, why victims stay in relationships, and how to help someone going through domestic violence. The event will take place at the Big Bear Lake Chamber of Commerce Meeting Room, located at 630 Bartlett Rd. #2830, Big Bear Lake on Wednesday October 25th from 3:30 – 5:00 PM. This will be a free event, but pre-registration is required through our website www.Doves4Help.org/seminar. If you have any questions about this, or any of the events, please contact DOVES Program Manager Quinton Page at 909.866.1546.
